  1. Do you have a license? Are you registered?

In some states, a license is necessary to practice a profession. In others, a handyman has to be registered as a business entity.   1. What are your rates? How do you charge?

  1. Are you covered by insurance?

Not all handymen are covered by a liability and worker’s compensation insurance because it’s not really required. But if you do find one who is covered, then you’re looking at a good candidate for the job. You don’t want to be liable for any accidents and untoward incidents in the workplace.
